SHE DID IT! Samantha Gash completed her epic 76 day run across India, covering over 3200km! From the desert in Jaisalmer to the hills on the far east of the country in Shillong. Samantha and the Run India team visited 18 official World Vision programs and explored the barriers to quality education for children. The fight might be over, but the battle has hardly begun.
Proceeds from the sale of these #runningforchange @runindia THIRbands will go towards funding education focused World Vision programs across India.
A quality education can be the foundation that helps young people around the world achieve their dreams. From literacy and numeracy to essential life skills, education equips children with the tools they need to make positive life choices, advocate for their rights and support themselves and their families. Education is also a fundamental human right – one that too many children don’t get to enjoy.
See what Sam and the team had to say as they finished the run:
Along the way, we met so many incredible people in World Vision Australia supported communities. Their stories of challenge explored the many barriers that families can face in accessing quality education. However, no matter what challenges had come, the overwhelming feeling was hope. We heard powerful stories of change and the desire to get the education that they deserved for children, for families and for wider communities.
The journey isn’t over. We will continue to work with World Vision India to implement programs and use the more than $150,000 raised to benefit communities in India. We thank each and every person who has run, walked, donated and joined the conversation; all for education. To our valued partners, this couldn’t have happened without you and over the next week we will be sharing many messages of gratitude to everyone who has taken part.
